We documented a delicious recipe for preparing Bo’, one of the mushrooms that is eaten by the Tsimane’. Carlos took us on a walk through the forest to harvest edible mushrooms, which we then carried wrapped in palm leaves to his house. There he washed them, folded them in paya leaves with some salt, and steamed them on a fire. Soft and delicate and great with some rice and cooked plantain!
Many people tell us that mushrooms are eaten less now than in the past, and young Tsimane’ people often don’t know which mushrooms are edible or how to prepare them. Soon we aim to publish a video of this day to showcase and preserve this culinary Tsimane’ relation with mushrooms and land.
