After several months in the Bolivian Amazon, we are delighted to welcome Júlia Orrit back to Barcelona following the second phase of her fieldwork with the Tsimane’ people. During her time in Bolivia, Júlia collected important data on Cultural Keystone Species and advanced research on changes in the plants used by Tsimane’ women to make traditional necklaces. These efforts will help us better understand the intricate relationships between biodiversity, culture, and social change.
But fieldwork is about much more than data. It is about building trust, sharing stories, learning from others, and embracing the unexpected. It is about the relationships that make knowledge possible. Júlia has approached this work with extraordinary dedication, curiosity, and care. Through long days in the field, countless conversations on the canoe, and moments both challenging and joyful, she has brought warmth, generosity, and genuine enthusiasm to every step of the journey.
We are deeply grateful not only for the outstanding work that Júlia has accomplished, but also for the joy, kindness, and positive energy she has shared along the way. Research is always richer when carried out with such humanity. Welcome home, Júlia. Thank you for everything you have given to this project. We cannot wait to see where this journey leads next!
