On Saturday, August 15, we brought together 13 women’s organizations and groups working in the Tsimane’ Indigenous Territory (TICH). Among them were representatives from the Tsimane’ Indigenous Women’s Organization (OMITS), the Upper Maniqui River Women’s Network, and the Training and Service Center for the Integration of Women (cecaseM), with whom we co-organized this event. The goal was to get to know one another so we could support each other, join forces, and collaborate.
The protagonists of this meeting were the women artisans from nine Tsimane’ communities, who presented their work with passion and pride to everyone present. The main topics that brought the organizations together were the production and sale of handicrafts, the creation of associations, and the need to know women’s rights. The meeting also addressed cultural and environmental conservation, gender-based violence, and the importance of women’s empowerment and leadership.
Furthermore, through this event, we confirmed our partnership with cecaseM, which organizes workshops and training sessions to strengthen women’s leadership, empowerment, and territorial governance.
