It is with a heart both heavy with sadness yet full of love and gratitude that we say goodbye to the people who have taken the best care of us during our time in Bolivia: the owners and staff of the El Bosque hotel. They were always there to welcome us when we arrived utterly exhausted after weeks in the communities along the Maniqui River. They cared for us and helped us when we got sick. They gave us the best tips on where to buy what we needed, where to find a delicious meal, or where to sing karaoke. We shared conversations, laughter, lunches, and the best afternoon snacks featuring traditional Beni cuisine. They turned our birthdays (especially Doña Maira’s, Jorge’s, and Clara’s!) into unforgettable events.
A huge thank you to Doña Maira, Cecilia, Eliana, María Esther, Lía, José-Luis, Antonio, Eiber, and—most importantly—Danita. We love you all very much.
