Our first field campaign is completed!

November 28, 2025

Our first field campaign has now come to a close. After five months of intense fieldwork among the Tsimane’ people in the Bolivian Amazon, the team returns with a deep sense of gratitude for the time spent in communities and the many conversations, reflections, and shared experiences that shaped these months in the field. Together with Tsimane’ collaborators and knowledge holders, we carried out 254 semi-structured interviews, 102 free-listing exercises, 81 structured surveys, 62 recorded conversational interviews, 22 faunal transects, and 18 walk-in-the-woods exercises across multiple villages. We also organized 12 participatory workshops, opening spaces for community-led reflections on biocultural changes. These months were not only about research activities, but about learning together in forests, along rivers, and in community spaces. As we close this chapter of fieldwork, we do so with immense appreciation for the generosity, trust, and knowledge shared by our Tsimane’ friends and partners. The relationships nurtured during these months will remain at the heart of the work that lies ahead.
