One of the highlights of our latest field campaign was bringing together the full IEK-CHANGES team for a joint gathering in San Borja, Bolivia. Researchers, co-researchers, translators, field technicians, botanists, students, collaborators, and institutional partners came together to celebrate the people behind the project and our shared commitment to understanding, documenting, and supporting Tsimane’ biocultural heritage. The occasion also marked the debut of our brand-new IEK-CHANGES T-shirts, a perfect excuse for a team photograph!
IEK-CHANGES is built on collaboration. We are incredibly proud to work alongside colleagues from the Herbario Nacional de Bolivia, the Centro Boliviano de Investigación y Desarrollo Socio Integral (CBIDSI), the Organización de Mujeres Indígenas Tsimane’ (OMITS), and representatives from the Gran Consejo Tsimane’. Bringing together such a diverse group of people, backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives is one of the project’s greatest strengths. Together, we are building an ambitious, interdisciplinary, and intercultural partnership founded on mutual trust, shared learning, and a common vision: to better understand how Indigenous environmental knowledge is changing over time and why it matters for the future.
