We Tsimane’ women work: we cook, wash, look after our children, and work on our farmland; when someone falls ill, we tend to them. We also fish, hunt, sell plantains, weave and make handicrafts (marico, necklaces, mats, hats, etc.). We do all this to buy food for our children. What would happen if we didn’t work? We wouldn’t eat, and the community wouldn’t produce anything. We sustain the community and we want to have the same income: our own income.
If we were given the chance, we could take the lead. We Tsimane’ women have rights too!
